Garlic is too...garlic.
Personally, I love garlic. My friend Grace, in describing why she doesn't like garlic, said the above, and I thought that was really the perfect description. The Chinese version of The Voice is hilarious. The Simon Cowell equivalent wears sunglasses constantly and takes himself waaaay too seriously, there are random instant replays, and moments where they anime-ify the contestants. Oh, and one group randomly brought a turtle in a tiny terrarium and awkwardly dangled it by their side during their audition.

I am unable to access Google blogger, so I suppose I'll write some blog-like entries here. I really should have been doing so from the start, but I am a terrible person.
Anyway....
I am still in Hangzhou (spent a week in Beijing, which was fantastic, especially loved the art museum) but I am leaving by train on the 9th for Shanghai, and will stay there for the rest of my trip. I found a place really close to the airport so I won't be at risk of missing my flight. I looked at the timetable, and I'm going to be flying BACK IN TIME. That is probably going to be the coolest thing about the flight, though. It will be very long, and honestly heat w

So it turns out DeviantArt is not blocked here in China. I will try to post some photos as I go, but my internet connection is not great. Communicating on here is far more doable than Facebook. Real Chinese food is amazing, and hostelling is a fantastic experience. Hope to post again soon.

Life is crazy and beautiful.
I am thrilled to report that I received full funding for my impending trip to China! Donations were made, and I also received nearly $5000 in grants from my fantastic school, nearly $2000 of which were from the Honors program. North Carolina State University rocks, seriously.
I keep falling behind in sending my thank yous for faves, and I feel bad about that, but please know that I am very grateful for your support of my work! I'm trying to catch up, I just have a great deal on my plate right now.
Speaking of plates, people who eating "adventurously" in China have to get a Typhoid shot! How exciting! I get mine this upcoming Wednesday.
